Today we share the things you need to know before you go to Seattle, sharing the Seattle need to know tips so that you can plan a perfect vacation. In this things you need to know before you visit Seattle guide, we cover how to get around Seattle without a car, when to visit Seattle, getting around Seattle and Seattle Washington things to do.

Seattle is a unique, transformative city in America, far removed from the other regional capitals.

Leave the car – Traffic in Seattle is awful, full of gridlock most of the day. Ditch the car, stick to walking or use the rail network and light rail line.

Prepare to walk a lot – Seattle is a large city with a lot of hills. It is possible to walk between many of the attractions but expect quite a few uphill slopes.

Use public transport – Seattle’s public transport system is getting better! Buses run regularly throughout the day with some night buses running too. There is also a light rail line train running from downtown to the U District, which is planned to be expanded over the coming years.

Visit in the summer – Summers in Seattle are glorious. The city is warm and dry with low humidity and very little rain. However the summer is short so plan in advance. If you do visit in the winter months, bring a raincoat and expect a bit of mist too.

It isn’t as expensive as San Fran – When budgeting your trip, it is worth noting that it is a cheaper city than its neighbouring California cities. However, it isn’t too far off; expect to pay at least $150 a day in Seattle.

Head to Pike Place market – Although a tourist sight now, Pike Place is still a great place to try local foods and is one of the cities best attractions. Make sure you check it out bur make sure you don’t drive here; instead take the light rail to Westlake and make sure you try as much as possible.

Skip the needle – Seattle’s Space Needle is an icon in the city, but it is a bit of a rip off. Instead of paying $22, head up to the Sky View Observatory in the Columbia Center for $14.95 for great views including the needle itself.

Try the coffee – Seattle arguably has the best coffee in the US so make sure you spend your days trying out new coffee spots.

Drink the beer – Food in Seattle is great but the beer is the best. Head to a craft beer place along the waterfront or head to the Breweries and try some local flavours.

The Seattle Freeze – When people talk about the Seattle Freeze, they are referring to the locals less-than-friendly nature. Don’t be offended, it is just a thing in Seattle.
