For state #5 in our “50 States in a Year” series, we’re in the Mountain State! West Virginia is one of those states that tends to get overlooked. Most people don’t even realize all that this beautiful state has to offer. Being the most mountainous state in the US and having 78% of its landmass covered in forest, West Virginia is the outdoor enthusiasts dream! We started our trip at Winterplace Ski Resort where we spent the morning learning to snowboard at their renowned ski and snowboard school before working our way north through the nations newest National Park, New River Gorge National Park and saw the longest steel arch bridge in the US! We then headed to the state capital of Charleston where we had one of the best meals of our lives at 1010 Bridge! Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised with how much we fell in love with West Virginia after our winter wonderland visit!

Me and my family are moving to a farm in wolfcreek WV, West Virginia is literally the most beautiful place I have ever been to! They don’t joke around when they call it the mountain state there is literally no place in West Virginia where there’s not a mountain

Going back and watching some older videos. We love to ski. Bill snowboards and I ski. I could never get the snowboard. Bill, just I swear was going down black run our 2nd day, haha We have been doing it for 7 years now and have our own stuff and try to go somewhere every year. We have a 2-week trip planned next year in Steamboat Springs Colorado. We live north of Birmingham Alabama and just drove up to Beech Mountian North Carolina this past year for a few days.
I totally live in a good thirty minutes away from Winter Place. Hahaha.
